Kirk Brae CC 2 got off to a winning start in their match against Musselburgh CC 2, winning
the toss and electing to bat first. Kirk Brae's innings got off to a flying start as openers P Bamber & M Ghande took the score to 62 before the 1st wicket of P Bamber (50) fell. However, a solid partnership between W Haider (30)
and M Ghande (26) continued the onslaughtof runs. The middle order struggled to build on
this platform, with regular wickets falling. A late flurry from the lower order, including a useful 17 from MIqbal,
helped Kirk Brae to a respectable total of 172-9 from their 40 overs.
Musselburgh's bowling attack was led by N Puttaswamayya, who picked up 2 wickets for 21 runs. S Ramachandrappa and L Dingre also chipped in with 3 wickets each.
Musselburgh in reply, suffered a humiliating batting collapse as they were bowled out for a mere 45 runs against Kirk Brae CC 2. The entire team was dismissed in just 19.5 overs, with just one batsman able to reach double figures.
The Kirk Brae bowlers were relentless, with R Domadia picking up four crucial wickets for just seven runs. M Iqbal and R Deepak also chipped in with two wickets each, as the Musselburgh batting lineup was unable to cope with the pressure.
The only positive for Musselburgh was the resilience shown by Sri Ramachandrappa, who scored 25
runs before being dismissed. However, his efforts were in vain as the rest of the batting order crumbled around him.
This was a truly dismal performance from Musselburgh, and they will need to significantly improve their batting if they are to have any success in the future.
