Musselburgh Cricket Club’s 2nd XI completed their 2026 East of Scotland Cricket Association Division 6 campaign in seventh place, finishing a competitive season with 8 wins from 18 matches and a total of 230 points.

While the final league position perhaps does not tell the full story of the season, there were a number of excellent individual performances, encouraging contributions from across the squad and some promising signs for the future.

Srinivas Ramchandrappa leads from the front
The standout all-round performance of the season came from Srinivas Ramchandrappa, who made a major impact with both bat and ball.

Srinivas scored 388 runs, finishing as the 8th-highest run-scorer in Division 6, while also taking an outstanding 29 wickets, which placed him second among the division’s leading wicket-takers.

To feature so prominently in both the batting and bowling rankings was a tremendous achievement and underlined his importance to the 2nd XI throughout the campaign.

Valuable contributions with the bat
Abdullah Aman Virk enjoyed a productive season with 283 runs, finishing 18th in the Division 6 top 20 run-scorers. His performances provided valuable stability and runs for the side across the season.

There were also important contributions from David Peel, who scored 226 runs, and Hafiz Adel, who added 221 runs to the team’s total. Other notable contributions include James Slingsby with 150 runs.

The runs contributed throughout the middle order helped Musselburgh remain competitive in a number of closely fought matches and gave the side greater depth across the season.

Umar Virk among Division 6’s leading bowlers
With the ball, Umar Virk produced a strong campaign, taking 20 wickets and finishing 14th among the top 20 wicket-takers in Division 6.

Alongside Srinivas Ramchandrappa’s 29 wickets, Umar provided an important wicket-taking option throughout the year.

Hafiz Adel also enjoyed a valuable all-round season. In addition to his 221 runs, he claimed 15 wickets, making important contributions in both disciplines and further highlighting the all-round strength within the squad.

Encouraging debut for Pranay Mittapally
Another positive story from the latter part of the campaign was the arrival of Pranay Mittapally, who made his Musselburgh debut late in the season.

In just five matches, Pranay scored 89 runs and took nine wickets, making an immediate impression in Musselburgh colours. His performances in a relatively short period provided an encouraging glimpse of what he can offer the club going forward.
Plenty to build on.

Although Musselburgh 2s ultimately finished seventh in Division 6, the season contained plenty of positives.

Eight victories demonstrated the side’s ability to compete at this level, while the individual achievements of Srinivas Ramchandrappa, Abdullah Aman Virk and Umar Virk ensured Musselburgh were represented among the division’s leading performers.

The all-round contributions of Hafiz Adel, the runs of David Peel and the promising late-season debut of Pranay Mittapally added further encouragement.

With a mixture of established performers and players making their mark within the side, the 2026 season provides a solid platform for the 2nd XI to build on.
